Eavesdropping experiment on quantum cryptography system. Milestone 1: successfully controlling Bob

In the left half of the picture, you see Eve’s faked state generator. The little collimator in the background at left shines an invisible beam of light prepared by Eve across the optical table into Bob’s receiver telescope. In the background at right is Bob, and in the foreground at right are instruments assessing performance of the attack. The system under attack is a free-space quantum key distribution system built at the Centre for quantum technologies at the National University of Singapore. We use Bob control method I have previously developed.

This picture from Full eavesdropping on quantum cryptography gallery and Quantum hacking lab gallery is included in Picture Collection on Photo Pages.
